MSI has displayed some DX10 G84 and G86 mainstream cards with HDMI from NVIDIA over at their booth. Although G84 and G86 has no native HDMI support yet but MSI added a Silicon Image chip to their cards to provide HDMI feature. MSI chose to design the cards themselves instead of using the NVIDIA reference designs. MSI adds a Core Cell chip to handle frequency adjustments and voltage increments for overclocking purposes and it also helps in enhancing the images.

CeBIT : OCZ Rally 2 Firewire Flash Drives

http://resources.vr-zone.com//eventpics/Mar07/16/IMG_4755.jpg

OCZ has two new flash drives based on Firewire interface. The top one is the dual Firewire 400 interface flash drive where one side is Firewire 6pin and the other side is Firewire 4pin. The bottom one is the Firewire-800 counterpart and it should be really fast. Even for Firewire-400, it will perform slightly faster than the USB 2.0 counterpart due to better sustained transfer rates.

CeBIT: EVGA cooperates with Innovatek

http://www.techpowerup.com/img/07-03-14/EVGAInno01_thm.jpghttp://www.techpowerup.com/img/07-03-14/EVGAInno02_thm.jpghttp://www.techpowerup.com/img/07-01-19/768-P2-E838-AR_thm.jpg

A couple of weeks ago EVGA brought it's watercooled Black Pearl Edition to the market. It's GPU cooler comes from Innovatek and is called Cool-Matic G80 GTS/GTX depending on the card you choose. The cooperation between EVGA and the engineers from Innovatek is quite fruitful as the latest product bundle shows. EVGA is offering it's nForce 680i mainboard coupled with four watercoolers and you can get the aforementioned two watercooled G80 cards of course. The CPU cooler is the G-Flow the other three (2x Chipset and one for the MOSFETs) will be announced at the CeBIT. The whole cooling bundle will be available from Innovatek as well shortly after the convention according to their officials.

CeBIT: 108 inch LCD-TV, PS3 Digital-TV mod and other big things

The CeBIT hasn't even started but news websites around the world won't get tired posting about things you will actually see there. This time the Heise Newsticker reports about the world's biggest LCD-TV made by Sharp. 108 inch (2,74 meters) is what you have to beat nowadays and to set you back right away, there is no price tag on it which doesn't mean it's for free.
If you still want to connect your game console to a big display I would advise you to look at the more affordable HD1E- and XL1E Series. You can choose between 52" and 46" and all four devices have a native solution of 1920x1080. The HD1E screens come with four tuners (DVB-S, DVB-C, DVB-T, analog) whereas the XL1Es only support DVB-T and analog TV.

[---]

Besides playing a game what could one do with a Playstation 3? - Right - watching TV! You won't believe me? Then check out the latest PS3-mod done by the c't-Magazin gurus: An external DVB-T-box here, a little bit of Linux there, mix it with some special kernel- and driver modifications, let it stay for an hour and there you go:

http://www.techpowerup.com/img/07-03-14/PS3DigitalTV_thm.jpeg

It's even capable to record the DVB-stream and watch it later on. Sadly the how-to-guide is the printed c't Special Mag which will only be printed in German. So I guess if you can't read the German language you have to wait until another website catches the story and translates the article. Usually within a few weeks the methods get spread around the planet.

Another big thing presents Maxpoint - a computer case with a 360mm fan at the side and another 250mm fan integrated into the front! The 'Aplus El Diablo' will cost you around 120 Euro and will be available in May.

ASUS Makes Sound Cards Now

http://resources.vr-zone.com//newspics/Mar07/15/Xonar.jpg

It seems that ASUS has decided to enter into the audio segment with their latest Xonar D2 and D2K sound cards. The difference between Xonar D2 and D2K is the interface where D2 is on PCI and D2K is on PCI Express x1. We aren't sure what sound chips are on those cards at this point of time but it has the capability to playback and record at 116dB SNR. It supports Dolby Digital Live, DTS Connect and Dolby Headphone standards.

ASUS Sauternes P965 Board Spotted

http://resources.vr-zone.com//newspics/Mar07/15/Sauternes.jpg

The LN2 demo rig is actually a prototype board called Sauternes which the ASUS R.O.G team has developed based on Intel 965P chipset. It is an improved version of Commando P965 board with an additional thermal module for better cooling. However, it won't be going into mass production as it is just an experimental project to try out some nice ideas. Watch out for Striker, the "lean" version of Striker Extreme where it has all the oc-essential features onboard minus the costly fancy stuff to make it more affordable for overclockers.

EVGA Displays nForce 680i LT SLI Board

http://resources.vr-zone.com//newspics/Mar07/16/IMG_4850.jpg

Along with MPC68 chipset, NVIDIA is going to launch nForce 680i LT SLI chipset at CeBIT primarily targeted at hardcore gamers where the current 680i SLI chipset is targeted at hardcore enthusiasts. nForce 680i LT SLI boards will be some cheaper US$50 cheaper than the 680i SLI boards where MSRP is around US$199 compared to US$249+. nForce 680i LT SLI reference boards will come with active cooling instead of heat-pipe design on 680i SLI reference board, a green PCB instead of a black PCB, DDR2-800 instead of DDR2-1200 SLI memory, 8 USB 2.0 ports instead of 10, one Gigabit Ethernet instead of two, two PCIe x16 slots instead of 3, and without all the neat stuff like LED POST codes, Power/Reset buttons and Speaker. NVIDIA mentioned that overclocking on 680i LT SLI won't be as good as the 680i SLI but we believe the chipset is basically the same unless they have done some sort of a sorting on the chipsets.

http://www.techpowerup.com/img/07-03-15/cebit07-optimus-maximus-09.jpg

Here are some good and some bad news about the ultimate Optimus keyboard project, unveiled directly from Artemy Lebedev and Dimitry Tosy right after the CeBIT in Hannover started. I'll begin with the bad news. First the expected $1,200 price is now $1,490(cough). Second, the complete Optimus keyboard isn't being shown at CeBIT, just a few screenshots. Now the good news. The keyboard is now called Optimus Maximus and there will be OLED keys after all with an expected life span of only 5 years. Each 32 x 32 resolution OLED will remain stationary. Pre-orders of the unseen keyboard start in April with delivery in November/December 2007.

w0mbat in our forums has something nice for us again and this time round he brought us RV630 and RV610 cards. There are some misconceptions that the top card is a R600XT card, which is in fact a RV630XT card. It has 128-bit memory interface and supports GDDR4 in 256/512MB configurations. It requires an additional 6-pin power.

RV630 on the other hand has 128-bit memory interface as well and supports 256MB GDDR2 memories. No additional power is required.

As our sources revealed that RV630XT will score over 12K in 3DMark05 which is in fact faster than a X1900 XTX card. As for RV610, you can check out our previous article for its details and performance.

Sparkle Prefers Self-Designed Graphics Cards

Sparkle booth is pretty interesting with display of several self-designed cards as well as special cooling implementation. Apart from the Calibre P880+ GeForce 8800 GTX cooled by TEC active cooler system from MACS Technology, we also saw a self designed GeForce 8800 GTS card without the need for additional power. We were told that Sparkle will have their own self-designed G84 and G86 cards with their better cooling solutions which will increase overclockability of those cards by 10-15%. There is also another interesting technology created by Sparkle where a small PCB is inserted into the graphics card with POST LEDs and a reset button. It allows voltages adjustment and temperature management through software. This concept will be available for upcoming Sparkle DX10 cards.

OCZ Unveils Hybrid Cooler w/ Carbon Base

OCZ has a prototype hybrid cooler that combines air and water cooling techniques to cool down the carbon based core. This new cooler is called Hydrojet, a hexagon shaped cooler that uses WayCool thermal management technology from Onscreen. According to them, WayCool is a proprietary cooling technology that transfers heat at extraordinarily high rates to promote superior thermal management. The scalability of the cooling devices allows the removal of heat from the source towards large surface areas that are easily accessible. OCZ Hydrojet is 100% self contained liquid cooling system. There is a silent fan near the base to draw the cool air in from the center top, cool down the liquid filled vents and the hot air is channeled back to the top and out through the 6 sides. Hopefully we can see them in production in the next few months.

Antec is also expanding their power supply line-up to meet the needs of today's high-end systems. The above shows the TruePower Quattro 1000W, quad rail power supply. It features an efficiency of up to 85% and thus requires only an 8 cm fan to keep cool. There will also be an 850W variant with yellow race stripes instead of the white ones of the 1000W.

AMD 690G DTX Board Pictured

We saw a very interesting board today, an AMD 690G board codenamed Diamond Mech Board 2 based on the new DTX form factor. AMD has announced the new DTX form factor for Small Form Factors back in January. DTX motherboards are made backward compatible with ATX chassis but case makers are expected to make smaller DTX chassis specially for DTX boards. Even mini-ITX boards can be used in DTX cases. There are two board sizes for DTX; Full DTX and mini-DTX both at 20 cm length but mini-DTX is shorter in width at 17cm compared to 24.4cm. The board shown above is a Full DTX board.

Retail R600XTX Pictured & Benchmarked

We saw some R600 cards at CeBIT but any form of photography is restricted as AMD is keeping a close watch making sure nothing is leaked outside. Nevertheless, we still managed to get some shots on the retail R600XTX (Radeon X2900 XTX) card. The frontal shot contains sensitive information so we can't show it here.

Just a recap of what we have told you before, R600XTX retail card is codenamed Dragonhead 2. It is a 12-layer card at 9.5" long with a max TDP of 240W. It is clocked at 800MHz on 80nm process technology, 512-bit memory interface and has 1GB GDDR4 memories onboard. It has 6-pin and 8-pin PCIe connectors but two 2x3 PCIe power can be used. Rumors surfaced over at CeBIT that the final product may be on 65nm if it can be produced in time with reasonable good yield. So far we have yet to get a confirmation that the first shipping R600 cards will be on 65nm but we can't rule out that there are experimental R600 chips at 65nm now. If our source is right, the yield at 65nm is poor at this point of time and expect a limited quantity of 20,000 pieces of R600XTX by middle of April.

Next, we got hold of some preliminary benchmarks figures of the R600 XTX card with core clock at 800MHz vs a GeForce 8800 GTX card. Using a Core 2 Extreme 2.93GHz processor on an Intel 975X board, the 3DMark06 score at 1600x1200 resolution is 97xx on the R600XTX compared to 95xx on the 8800GTX. Seems like R600XTX is running slightly faster than 8800GTX on the early release of drivers for R600. AMD is still working hard on the drivers and there are some more performance left to unlock. However, the DX10 benchmarking war between ATi and NVIDIA has not started yet. The targeted display driver version for launch in May is 8.361 or later (Catalyst 7.4 or 7.5).

Asus coolers

In the last part of our visit to the booth of ASUS we'll take a look at CPU coolers. The most interesting are Arctic Square, Pirates 70, and Pirates 75.

The Arctic Square peculiarities of the Silent Square - since the fan is located in the heatsink center, the cooler measures just 108x106x135 mm.

The Pirates series includes two rather different solutions, based however on the same heatsink with a copper base, aluminium fins, and three heat-pipes. Pirates 75 features classic layout, while Pirates 70 has two fans directed at each other.

Só excelentes novidades...

Adorei as fotos do extreme memory chiller, simplesmente brutal!
Hum... o gajo da esquerda... o da frente ou o de trás? O da frente deve ser o Shamino, o de trás a cara não me é nada estranha!

Tem excelentes novidades, e outras nem tanto.
Aquelas pens firewire, ideia completamente estupida.

ASUS is getting pretty aggressive these days and is releasing any products that can possibly brand themselves and distinguish from the rest. It is probably due their future company direction to split into ASUS up into OEM and Brand business so they got to really build up their brand in order to excel in the Brand business. This time round, ASUS has some internet radios called u-Nedio that don't require a PC to access the internet radio stations. The wooden one sure looks vintage to me.
