Further speculation regarding the next Medal of Honor game suggests the series is moving to a 'contemporary' setting of the war in Afghanistan.
According to French site Jeuxvideo, the next instalment will jump forward in time from World War II to modern day Afghanistan.
The game allegedly will be set in 2002 and will focus on the ill-fated Operation Anaconda. For those unfamiliar with this battle, it was an operation intended to destroy al-Qaeda and Taliban forces in the Shahi-Kot Valley and Arma Mountains of Afghanistan.
Operation Anaconda was the first large-scale battle using conventional Army forces in Afghanistan. Previous encounters including the Battle of Tora Bora relied on Special Operations Forces.
During the operation, players will have multiple responsibilities, fighting in direct combat with the enemy, in a mortar group, piloting an offensive remote-controlled drone or within the sniper team, to name but a few.
The intensity of this FPS, the realism of the imagery and the 60 customisable weapons that are waiting you will unleash the full intensity of this engagement and will leave you gasping for air.
This new game will probably be titled Medal of Honor: Operation Anaconda and will feature 'mountain warfare', but we'll have to wait for clarification on that.
